Wine has been at the heart of civilisations for thousands of years (about 8000 to be vague), and almost all major events, be it war, great feats of engineering or the bible (perhaps slightly less with engineering). They have often included a few glasses of wine along the way. As a youngster of 25, the legendary Winston Churchill was sent to the front line to cover the Boer War for the Morning Post, and the contents of his luggage did not match that of a 21st century John Simpson. In a separate trunk, he loaded 36 bottles of wine, 18 bottles of ten year old scotch and 6 bottles of vintage brandy (he believed brandy to hold great medicinal qualities, particularly vintage. Find the same stuff at Vintage Wine Gifts ). As an addition to this I will add that tyrant Adolf Hitler remained tee total throughout World War Two, whereas Mr Churchill drank approximately 1300 bottles of Champagne. The moral is no doubt clear. And so weather you are an avid drinker of wine for its rich exotic fragrances, it's deep ocean like and mysterious colours, or the loose break away it can give you from day to day worries, there is something quite special for all to discover in a journey through wine. I hope somewhere on this website you may find a glimpse of this. |
